Khatai (eggless)

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cardamom essence
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup melted ghee (clarified butter)


  • Preheat oven to 350 F.
  • Sift the flour and baking powder twice.
  • Mix flour, and 1/2 cup ghee. Keep on adding ghee one tablespoon at a time to make a soft dough.
  • Shape into small balls and flatten with palm slightly.
  • Bake in a greased cookie sheet for 15-17 minutes or till cracks appear on top of the cookie.
